About this Amplog

"Rigeekulous - Ridiculously, awesomely geeky" is a Clog of everything we read that fits that description. Example:
"Check it out, I just completed a lifesize model of megaman out of legos."

"Wow. That's rigeekulous."

Own a wii? This will be on your wishlist this year!

Nintendo has finally returned Mario to it’s glorious side-scroller roots with “New” Super Mario Bros! I’ve been hoping for a new Mario title like this for a long time, and it looks amazing. Favoring gameplay over graphics, the combination of classic style with 4 player craziness just looks like too much fun.

Combined with a nice price cut on the Wii, Nintendo is gearing up for some serious competition with Microsoft and Sony this holiday season.

There is a new trailer available for New Super Mario Bros. Wii, showing off some of the new suits and multiplayer action from the game. This is pure Nintendo: you may not be initially amazed at the graphics, but the play looks incredibly solid and fun. Take a look at what’s likely to be Nintendo’s next big thing.

How many game systems can you pack in R2D2?

This little Astromech droid and it’s owner have been through a lot together…. Including surgery to implant 8 classic gaming systems embedded inside him! Pick up a controller, fire up the projector (also embedded in R2) and get your game on!

R2-D2 mod crams in eight game consoles and a projector

R2-D2 always seemed to have the right tool for any odd job, whether it be projecting a message of distress or opening up a blast door. Now, thanks to Popular Science reader Brian De Vitis (and PAX attendee, from the look of it), Artoo will also be able to play video games from a long time ago in living rooms far, far away.

Super Mario Bros. Villain Auditions

Mario, Luigi, and the Princess audition some familiar cast members for the original Super Mario Bros…

Play Mario off Keyboard Cat

I have to admit, I am totally keyboard cat obsessed. Now people are getting more creative with it, and I couldn’t be more excited.

Does Conan’s new set like Super Mario?

Well, I guess that answers that! I didn’t really see it until they added the backdrop in, and then I was amazed that I had missed it. Too funny!

Bill O’Reilly investigates Super Mario Bros.

Back from his Inside Edition days, 1988.  Hysterical, and I guess you can say it’s a historic glimpse at the birth of the Nintendo craze in America.

Giant Nintendo DSi made of legos!

I love that instead of making a picture of some game, he instead chose to capture the camera in action with a picture of a cat. Too funny.

Also, wait… the DSi has a camera? Hmm… Damn those marketing geniuses!

LEGO artist Sean Kenney was commissioned by Nintendo of America to build a giant DSi for display at the Nintendo World Store in NYC. So that’s what he did. And here it is, in all it’s 54,324 piece glory.Read more at www.geekologie.com

Awesome crocheted Megaman helmet

I can’t say that I’d have the nerve to wear this out in public (although the helmet ear-flaps do look cosy), but this is easily one of the funniest and coolest hats ever!

Apparently a very lucky geeky boy has a super awesome crafty gal who knit him up this awesome hat. Now she just needs to knit him some Mega Man arm warmers and leg warmers and hes all set to battle Dr Willy.

My friend Kate just sent this to me, and my first thought was “neat, but those Roms have been around for a while” - what I didn’t get was that when you clicked on one it would launch in a flash player right there on the site. Crazy!
