riGEEKulous

ridiculously, awesomely geeky.

About this Amplog

"Rigeekulous - Ridiculously, awesomely geeky" is a Clog of everything we read that fits that description. Example:
"Check it out, I just completed a lifesize model of megaman out of legos."

"Wow. That's rigeekulous."

Cute robot shaped power strip

Why have an ugly powerstrip with all of its plugs clumped together when you can get this cute little guy. The power indicator light is even right where his heart should be. I know what I’m getting NYC Resistor for the holidays!

I love it when someone takes a boring household item that we all need - like a power strip - and turns it into something funRead more at www.geeksugar.com

Forget RC Planes - make your own Drone

Wired Editor Chris Anderson has started a site and community around making your own UAVs. Most of the projects are Arduino powered, which means these designs are open source, and tweaking the program should be pretty easy. Awesome!

Amplifyd from diydrones.com
This is a site for all things about amateur Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs): How-to’s, videos, discussion and more. You can read more about us here.
These are our Arduino-based open source autopilot projects:
* ArduPilot, a very low-cost ($24.95!) autopilot with great expansion capabilities
* BlimpDuino, an autonomous blimp with both infrared and ultrasonic guidance

Funny DIY Bluetooth headset holder

Always losing your BlueTooth headset? Store it in this literal little pouch and you’ll be able to find it from across the room!

Amplifyd from www.geeksugar.com
This handmade dandy was made to hold a Bluetooth earpiece, so the seller went very literal and made it in the shape of a blue tooth. Har har.

Awesomely giant wave-power machine

I’m a sucker for giant gadgets, but this wave power generator is really cool. This huge contraption will be dropped 10-12 meters into the sea, generating power with every wave that passes over it. I never realized these generators would be so big! Look at how tiny the guys around it look.

Of the several forms of hydropower, wave and tidal power are rising in popularity. Wave motion might yield more energy than tides, and its feasibility has been particularly investigated in Scotland and in the UK. Wave and tidal power plant developer Aquamarine Power of Edinburg, Scotland plans to develop 1 gigawatt of wave and tidal power by 2020.Read more at hackedgadgets.com

It’s log, It’s log, it’s big it’s heavy, it holds your iPhone?

I love juxtapositions, and this mix of the height of high-tech with carpentry craftsmanship is just too much fun. It’s a little pricey, but really adorable.

My affinity for wood gadget accessories has come to this: an iPhone dock that looks like a log.

Though it’s not as sleek as most iPhone docks usually are, I think it’s kinda hot. The log dock ($68) is pretty organic, and not just in looks - made from real cedar, it must smell pretty lovely - but watch out for splinters!Read more at www.geeksugar.com

Today’s USB powered doohickey - a frikkin microwave!

I’ve already got a light irrational fear of microwaves, so this creeps me right out. I don’t think I’d want a tiny one churning way next to my computer, that’s for sure. Also, what can you possibly cook in this thing? Imagine trying to jam a hamburger in there!

Beanzawave USB-powered microwave, another good reason to never leave your desk

Heinz is flirting with the idea of turning its prototype Beanzawave — which the company hails as the smallest microwave in the world, powered by USB — into a real product. The main barrier to entry right now is the fact that it’d be expensive given its component cost, hitting shelves at a wince-worthy $160. That’s a lot of scratch to warm up some beans.

Waking up on the wrong side of the bed^H^H^H force

Do you really want Darth Vader staring you in the face every morning when you wake up? I suppose someone must, because this clock exists.

I guess if someone has to deliver bad news (like it’s time to get your butt out of bed) it might as well be someone epicly bad.
